For the safety of our animals, visitors, and staff, we ask that you observe the following park rules during your visit to Cape Safari Park.
Wheelchair / Handicap Accessibility: Most of the zoo is accessible by wheelchair. However, we are an agrotourism venue so inclimate weather conditions may prevent wheelchair accommodations at times.
Pets & Service Animals: We are very sorry, but pets AND service animals are not allowed at Cape Safari Park. You may stay with your (service dog ONLY) in our parking lot area. This rule is for the safety of our animals, staff, and visitors at the zoo. We have several animals that see these pets AND service animals as a threat. There are also open-aviary birds that roam freely around the zoo and animal rides that may operate during zoo hours. These pets / service animals could cause our zoo animals to panic or attack, which could additionally cause injury to themselves, other animals, our visitors, or staff. We are aware of ADA law. However, under ADA law we also have the right to refuse entry to protect our animals from what they see as a legitimate threat.
From ADA: "Allowing service animals into a "no pet" facility is a common type of reasonable modification necessary to accommodate people who have disabilities. Service animals must be allowed in all areas of a facility where the public is allowed except where the dog's presence would create a legitimate safety risk (e.g., compromise a sterile environment such as a burn treatment unit) or would fundamentally alter the nature of a public entity's services (e.g., allowing a service animal into areas of a zoo where animals that are natural predators or prey of dogs are displayed and the dog's presence would be disruptive).
